Plaid Cymru Leader, Dyfrig Siencyn, has appointed Councillor Dafydd Meurig, Arllechwedd Ward as Plaid's new Deputy Leader on Gwynedd Council.

This follows Councillor Mair Rowlands’ decision to stand down from her role as Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member following her new appointment as Director of Bangor Students' Union.

Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn said: “I would like to thank Mair Rowlands for her work in recent months as Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member. I'm sure she will continue to make an important contribution to Gwynedd Council as a local Councillor for Menai’s Bangor Ward. As Plaid Cymru’s Gwynedd group we wish her well in her new job.

“At the same time, I am pleased to welcome Councillor Dafydd Meurig as my new Deputy Leader. Dafydd is an experienced member of the Cabinet and I am delighted to welcome him to this new position,” said Dyfrig Siencyn.

A new cabinet member will soon be appointed to replace Councillor Rowlands.
